People, myself included at one point, spend way to much time, effort and concern trying to find their purpose in life. There are several problems with this purpose seeking approach. One, it takes your mind away from the present moment and forces you to think in terms of the future only.
Finding purpose is pretty simple when you really think about what you are trying to accomplish. Purpose itself can be simple. Sure you life goal or life mission could be your purpose. But why not break that purpose down into having a daily, weekly, monthly purpose as well. This makes “finding your purpose” much simpler because you are not focused on several years down the road, or the main objectives you want to complete.
Take the daily, weekly, and monthly purposes you find and start doing those things day in and day out. Over time, these small and simple actions steps start piling up like building a brick wall or stacking firewood.
A bricklayer has the purpose of building the wall. But how does he go about doing that? He starts building section by section and stacking brick by brick. He does not sit there passively waiting and staring at the wall hoping it will get completed. No. He starts taking action. His purpose, for the job at least, is to build a brick wall.
Starting build your own wall of purpose. I spent years trying to figure out what my purpose in life was. This was wasted time. I missed out on living my purpose daily in a half hearted attempt to find my life purpose.
The point of this rant is this: find a purpose, daily no matter how small and live the purpose to its fullest potential. It can be as simple as talking your dog on a walk every day and making that dog the happiest dog in the world. It can be cleaning the house or making dinner before your wife and family get home. Getting up slightly earlier than everyone and making breakfast.
Purpose does not have to be a long drawn out ordeal. Start adding value to other peoples lives, do this as much as possible. The better you can make the lives of others around you. The better your life becomes.
The definition of Purpose is:
You can find a purpose to doing everyday things. Start living your life purposely, in the present moment. Do the small things with purpose, every day.
Your daily purposes should be closely in line with your life goals, or your life purpose. Like the bricklayer, start laying one brick at a time. Before you know it, you” have your purpose wall will not only be built but built strong and true to who you are what you are trying to accomplish in your life.
That being said, start cutting out things that are not in line with your life purpose. If you want to eat better, stop eating out. If you want to get out of debt, stop wasting your money on junk and start a budget.
Purpose can be small. Find something that makes a difference and adds value to your life as well as others and starting making a sincre effort to do those things as often as possible.
